Super Baked cupcakes that is. If you’ve ever experienced Super Baked then you know it’s an experience to remember. Hand crafted with quality in mind and love in heart, Super Baked cupcakery is one of a kind. Run by the adorable and humorous Kimmy, this budding bakery is now sharing it’s delicious creations with all of Taiwan. As your cupcakes are made to order, you need to order them two days in advance. Your treats then get delivered to your door the same day as they are made or over night to guarantee maximum freshness. That’s important too because as Kimmy says, “We are a cupcakery that believes in a balance between looks, taste and value. I believe in the simplicity and honesty of fresh ingredients so… our cupcakes cannot be kept for two weeks.”

Kimmy and her cupcakes.

Born in Singapore then moving to Vancouver, Canada at age 7, Kimmy learned her baking basics at an early age.  At 8, when most kids would be begging for cookies, she started baking her own to raise money for a “coveted Sega Genesis.” As “there’s no ancient Chinese baking traditions/secrets in my (her) family” she learned to bake from library books, drawling inspiration from treasures like the Babysitters Club. For Kimmy, baking became a passionate hobby that she carried with her into her professional years. While studying for a career in advertising she perfected her cupcake art. Post graduation, she scored a marketing communications job, but all the while “Baking remained a side gig – I sold cookies and cakes during holiday seasons and this habit continued when I moved to Taiwan.” In 2011 she left her company and founded Super Baked Cupcakery (SBC). Since it’s creation SBC has developed a loyal following and it’s hard not too see why.

Going clockwise: Double Chocolate, Salty Caramel, French Vanilla

SBC prides itself on quality, freshness and value. Offering superb cupcakes at competitive prices, SBC stands out in a city crowded with confections. “I want Super Baked to be the standard for hand made cakes.  NO “butter-flavoured” processed oils please and no chemical ingredients that are impossible to pronounce.” SBC’s best sellers are the French Vanilla and the Double Chocolate. Kimmy says “My personal favourite is the salty caramel, (but) there are keen fan clubs for most of the flavors.” SBC will also tweak the recipe “for the sugar seeking American crowd.” While SBC has a scrumptious menu (seen here) Kimmy is more than happy to get creative with her cupcakes. All you have to do is ask… (email: “info@superbaked.net”)

Some Andy Warhol reproductions. (I bet they tasted better than the originals)

Catering is available with moderate notice and the more you buy the cheaper it is to get to your door. If you’re willing to stop by in the Minsheng neighborhood, pickup is free and you might get the pleasure of chatting with Kimmy herself. If you live outside Taipei, you need a three day delivery notice as every cupcake is hand crafted with love. Whether it’s wedding presentations or a weekend snack, Super Baked Cupcakery has what your looking for, because, as we all know…

“Thats what cupcakes are, pure joy!” - Kimmy
